X-LAM panel system

Cladding systems based on the X-LAM panel structure

The X-LAM panel construction system, also known as reinforced wood, uses large self-supporting structural panels (2.95 x 16 metres) made of solid multilayer wood. Each panel is made up of 3, 5 or 7 layers of spruce boards glued crosswise (“X”) with formaldehyde-free glues. Depending on the number of slats, the thickness varies from 5 to 30 cm. The panels arrive on site already cut according to the architectural design and are assembled on site.

We propose two wall structure solutions:

X-LAM SYSTEM WITH EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION

  1. Plaster
  2. Wood fibre thermal cladding
  3. External wall insulation mounting battens
  4. Thermo-acoustic insulation in wood fibre
  5. X-LAM panel
  6. Battens for technical compartment
  7. Rock wool thermo-acoustic insulation
  8. Fibreglass-reinforced plasterboard panel

X-LAM SYSTEM WITH VENTILATED WALL

  1. Wall ventilation battens
  2. Windproof breathable sheeting
  3. Rock wool thermo-acoustic insulation
  4. X-LAM panel
  5. Battens for technical compartment
  6. Rock wool thermal insulation
  7. fibreglass-reinforced plasterboard panel

Advantages of a home built with the X-LAM panel system

Speed of construction
The large panel dimensions ensure rapid assembly. The panels are hoisted by crane and assembled on site.

Stability and strength
Cross-bonding provides the structure with static characteristics similar to traditional construction techniques. The panels are highly resistant to fire and, with appropriate design of the joints, it is possible to achieve significant seismic safety performance.

Energy saving and comfort
The low number of joints ensures superior air tightness, reduces the conductivity of the walls and contributes to thermal insulation. The multilayer panels also ensure good soundproofing.
